Course: PG-103
This first-level “Advanced Photography” course not only adds significantly to your knowledge and skills, but it prepares you to get the most out of our other Advanced Photography offerings, giving you a foundation in a wide variety of advanced techniques.
In this class we explore lens selection, emotional impact, point-of-view, elaborate lighting approaches, advanced exposure techniques, the creative use of filters, Custom White Balance, Colour Temperature, RAW vs. JPEG, Bit-Depth, Sensor sizes, Managing Noise, Manual Focus vs. Auto-Focus Incident, and reflective light metering.
We’ll also cover how the digital image is constructed and how it differs from film, Composition: utilizing creative and technical knowledge, and also Lighting Characteristics: the relationship between main and fill lighting.
A discussion of the purpose of Photoshop and post-production will be had, plus advanced exposure techniques that includes panoramas, time-lapses, and HDR (high dynamic range).
Calibrating and profiling (camera, monitor, printers) and exhibition considerations will be reviewed.
This course concludes with a survey of different genres of photography and how they make use of the techniques learned in these lessons to create truly great images.
Prerequisite(s): PG-102 Intermediate Photography; Recommended PG-104 The Art Of Seeing or PG-105 Portrait Photography.
