Dance nourishes the Mind, Body and Soul. All of these dances are set to music with a 4/4 beat, making them easy to learn. If you are just a beginner, then this is the best course to start you off!
Dance is not only a great way to keep the spark alive, it is also a great way to stay in shape. Here are some of the dances this course will cover:
The Foxtrot is characterized by long, continuous flowing movement around the dance floor. It was premiered in 1914 and popularized by vaudeville actor Harry Fox. African American dancers may have been the first to dance this dance in exclusive colored clubs. It’s a very elegant and graceful dance.
The Country Two-Step:
The Country Two-Step, also popularly known as the Texas Two-Step, is often danced to country music but many 4/4 beat songs are well suited to the Two-Step dance.
The East Coast Swing:
East Coast Swing or Jive, is a fun, fast-paced dance that is easily adapted to slower beat music as well. Historically, the term “Swing” referred to the style of Jazz music, which inspired the evolution of the dance from the 1920s to the 1950s.
The Night Club Two-Step:
Night Club Two-Step is danced to slower 4/4 beat music. A beautiful, graceful dance with a rise and fall similar to that of a waltz. After you learn these steps you will begin to appreciate why this dance has also been called a “Vertical Expression of a Horizontal Wish”. They are fun, sexy and romantic all at the same time.
